Alex McIntosh
Founder, Ecomundi Ventures
With two decades of environmental sustainability, fundraising, and management leadership in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, Mr. McIntosh brings a catalytic but pragmatic perspective to today's most pressing environmental challenges. His primary area of experience and focus is water. Specific interest in tackling the toughest water challenges of the 21st century by creating innovative funds and partnerships to catalyze breakthrough clean technologies and business models.
Mr. McIntosh formed Ecomundi Ventures to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society via two focus areas: Innovative funding models for clean technology particularly in the water sector, and development of a new sustainability framework. Prior to Ecomundi Ventures, Mr. McIntosh created and led sustainability and corporate citizenship programs at Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) through a time of intense environmental and social scrutiny. Under his leadership, NWNA initiated cutting-edge footprint and value-chain analyses of its business, and developed unconventional collaborations with a wide spectrum of NGO and partner organizations to tackle complex social issues such as water sustainability & innovation, recycling, and climate change. Prior to Nestlé, Mr. McIntosh helped lead two historic conservation efforts generating $75MM in private funding at a field office of The Nature Conservancy, co-developed an ecotourism model for an African nation, created a business plan for a US national park, and published a field guide to birds. He was an early “green home design” pioneer, and now lives in San Francisco with his family.
Mr. McIntosh earned his B.A. with academic honors at Duke University, and a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale University. Mr. McIntosh is a frequent and engaging speaker on water, sustainability, clean technology, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and stakeholder engagement topics.
